Zoll Announces Airworthiness Certification for AED Pro

Helicopter500flat

Zoll Medical Corporation has announced that they have received notification of Airworthiness Release (AWR) from the US Army's Research, Development, and Engineering Command for the Zoll AED Pro.  This certification states that the AED Pro complies with the US Defense Department's criteria for medical devices and can now be used aboard MEDEVAC helicopters.

The Zoll AED Pro has undergone extensive testing by the US Army's Aeromedical Research Laboratory.  That testing included electromagnetic interference and compatibility, environmental and human factors testing in the laboratory, and also included in-flight assessments by engineers and medical personnel in a variety of flight conditions.

The Zoll AED Pro has been designed to withstand the harshest of environments.  It is the only AED on the market that features an Ingress Protection rating of IP55 and 1.5 meter drop test, able to withstand searing heat, freezing cold, pounding rain and significant drops.  The Zoll AED Pro also features Real CPR Help, which gauges the depth and rate of chest compressions to assist the rescuer in improving the quality of CPR they are providing, and See-Thru CPR to allow the professional rescuer to view a patient's underlying cardiac rhythm by filtering out CPR artifact.  See-Thru CPR eliminates the need to stop chest compressions to see if defibrillation was successful.

This certification by the US Army adds the Zoll AED Pro to Zoll's expanding list of airworthy products, which also includes the M Series CCT, the current Military PMI standard defibrillator, and the Power Infuser, an infusion pump that provides controlled delivery of blood and fluids.  The CCT and Power Infuser have also been approved for all  phases for flight for US Air Force aircraft.

The ZOLL PocketCPR device is now available at the AED Superstore

Pocketcpr500_3

It's finally here and in stock!

We reviewed the ZOLL PocketCPR device in a previous post in this blog which you can read here. It's a pocket-sized CPR coach that goes one step further than other similar products...it provides feedback to help rescuers perform chest compressions properly during a resuscitation emergency.

It's a great addition to a first aid kit, emergency oxygen kit, or just to have around wherever a potential emergency may occur. For those who are unsure of or uncomfortable with their CPR skills, the PocketCPR is an invaluable tool!

The New Zoll AED Plus Trainer2

      Aedtrainer500_2

Zoll Medical Corp. is introducing their newest trainer, the Zoll AED Plus Trainer2.  Let's take a look at the similarites and differences between the new trainer and the previous model (Zoll AED Plus Trainer):

Both versions use the same pads, have pre-programmed scenarios with manual capabilities, and remote controls.  The LCD display has been eliminated from the Trainer2.  One note regarding the remotes:  The new Trainer2, by popular demand, has a wireless remote allowing for more mobility and flexibility for the instructor.

The Trainer 2 comes with 4 different rescue scenarios.  With the wireless remote the instructor can control multiple AED Plus Trainer2s.  The unit is powered by 4 "D"cell batteries (included), which provides up to 100 hours of training.  No AC adapter to anchor the unit down.  The remote uses 2 "AA" batteries (included).

The Zoll AED Plus Trainer2 is priced the same as the previous model, $350.00, with features designed for the CPR instructor in mind.  Order yours today at www.aedsuperstore.com, or call and speak with a friendly and knowledgeable member of our staff.

PocketCPR(TM) to be released soon from Bio-Detek Inc and Zoll Medical Corporation

PocketCPR (TM) from Bio-Detek, a subsidiary of ZOLL Medical Corporation, is coming soon and we got our collective hands on one not too long ago. (Click the photo for a bigger picture of the device.) Our sample is labeled "For Training Only" presumably in anticipation of FDA clearance for use in real emergencies. The device is intended for both uses.

There are several CPR coaching devices on the market, but this one is really exciting to us. The PocketCPR combines a typical pocket-sized CPR voice prompting system with a unique CPR feedback function. This device prompts the user through all steps of CPR and measures chest compression depth to advise the user to "Push Harder" if needed. If chest compressions are performed correctly, the device reassures the rescuer by saying "Good Compressions." Does all this sound familiar? It should! These same features are found on ZOLL's AED Plus and AED Pro defibrillator models, too.

The operation of the PocketCPR device is straightforward. Power it up and place it on the patient's chest using the normal "landmarks." A short power-up system test is followed by clear CPR instructions. In addition, flashing lights and a metronome further direct the rescuer. The interesting part is the rescuer places both hands in the normal chest compression position right on top of the PocketCPR unit. It then provides feedback to the user to reinforce or correct performance during the emergency.

The PocketCPR uses a single Duracell 123 battery which is the same size battery used in the AED Plus.

     Price is to be determined.

ZOLL announces new and improved "CPR-D" electrode pads

ZOLL's unique single-piece electrode pads keep getting better and better! Known as their CPR-D padz, they were the first one-piece AED electrode system and came with an unprecedented 4-year shelf life and supported the ZOLL AED Plus' CPR feedback feature.

Earlier this year ZOLL announced an extended shelf-life of 5-years for their CPR-D padz.

Today, they proudly announce other key improvements like:

     Lower Profile CPR Sensor
The new low profile shape of the CPR sensor lends itself to better contour to the victim's chest resulting in a more even distribution of force and pressure.

     And...

     Added Convenience
The low profile CPR sensor takes up less space and reduces bulk; therefore storage beneath the lid is now more convenient.

     Added Comfort
We've added extra foam layers and embedded the CPR sensor in the foam for optimal comfort to the rescuer's hand while performing CPR.

     Added Safety
The cable on the CPR-D padz is now 43 inches (1.1 meter) long.  The extra 6 inches leaves more room for maneuverability and greater distance between victim and AED.

Added Ruggedness - A new protective handgrip is now located on the connector; it serves as both a protective layer for the wires and provides a convenient easy grip for the user to connect and disconnect the pad from the AED.

The AED Superstore ships all ZOLL AED Plus and select AED PRO devices complete with these new and improved CPR-D padz!
